As community foundations face growing expectations to lead on pressing local challenges, many are rethinking how they generate revenue, engage donors, and finance their community leadership work.
Our next Community Foundation Town Hall will draw on new research from the Aspen Institute's Community Foundation Business Model Initiative (CFI) to explore how small- and mid-sized community foundations across the country are adapting their business models to meet this moment. Sarina Beges, who leads CFI, will present early findings that highlight innovative approaches emerging in rural and other underinvested communities, where foundations are expanding beyond traditional asset-under-management models to unlock new resourcesand better serve local needs.
Following Sarina’s presentation, we’ll discuss the need for staff skill sets to evolve beyond “operational excellence” toward more specialized roles as foundations grow and asset sizes shift.
